"Yeah...lucky me," he quipped as he shook his hair, dripping wet, all over Bo. "There...now you don't either..."

Bo shielded himself from the spray with a laugh, shaking his head.
"Course I do! Now I need a shower t'get the grease from yer hair offa me..." he retorted back with a chuckle, his blue eyes twinkling.

"Greasy hair?! Becky Lou sure didn't mind my greasy hair when she was runnin' her fingers through it the other night..." he shot back. "Course the only one who likes yers is Maudine...an' that's just cuz she confuses it with her hay..."

At that, Bo wrinkled his nose and shook his head.
"Well that's because Becky Lou's hair is as greasy as yers is...probably didn't feel any different to her than runnin her fingers through her own..."

Luke just chuckled. "Yeah...yeah..." He looked up only to see Jesse shaking his head at them disapprovingly.
"If you two'd put as much effort int' your chores as ya did int' your play, we'd get a lot more done," Jesse chastized gently. He loved his boys, like he would if they were his own, but sometimes...he just didn't understand them.

Bo looked up as well as Luke suddenly stopped chuckling, swallowing a little as he saw Jesse standing there, instinctivly taking his place just behind Luke's right shoulder. It wasn't that he was asking Luke to protect him, its just where he instinctivly stood whenever there was trouble so if they got jumped on from behind he would be the first to see whilst Luke was trying to think a way out of the situation. From this position also, it was eaisier to whisper to Luke and visa versa.
Smiling a little as Jesse gently told them off but in a not telling off kind of way, he rubbed the back of his head a little as he turned his attention down to the floor. He didn't really feel that sorry about what they were doing, it had been a long time since he and Luke had just played like that. He knew also that his Uncle didn't mean that. Jesse knew and appriciated how much effort the boys put into the farm, they knew that.

"Yes sir," answered Luke amicably.
Luke was always the quieter of the two cousins, and many would say the more rational. Those who knew him best though knew him to be a lion when confronted....he might be slower to anger, but his bite was much worse than his bark, and most who challenged him came out far worse than they came in. Jesse was the exception. His word was obeyed out of love but, even with Luke, was always obeyed.

Bo was quick to follow Luke's example, mumbling a 'Yes Sir' of his own, not particularly wanting the mood to get ruined. At that moment, he was so tempted to sneakily grab the hose again and shove it down Luke's trousers this time.

"Don't you even think about it," warned Luke his keen blue eyes seeing Bo's mischievous face and quickly assuming the worst.
Jesse pointed a finger at both of them. "You both behave...ya ain't too old t' take over my knee."
"Yes sir," replied Luke though he privately thought he was too old, and both he and the patriarch knew it.

"Yes sir..." Bo repeated again as Luke did but he wasn't even really listening to what he was agreeing to. He was more interested in what Luke had said. What was Luke thinking he was going to do...knowing Luke he was thinking way beyond the boundries of what Bo was thinking and it amused the younger cousin to frighten Luke with that kind of thing. With a mind that over worked every situation to find a million possible outcomes, it was fun to set those cogs working.

"Mind me," said Jesse firmly before heading into the farmhouse with Daisy, who could not help but giggle at them.
Luke turned to Bo, looking at him pointedly his arms folded over each other as heleaned on the porch rail, studying Bo's face. Something was up. What he couldn't be sure, but Bo had his famous watch-what-I-can-do grin plastered all over his face...and nothing good ever came of that.

In response, Bo simply raised his eyebrows as he looked to Luke.
"What?" he questioned at Luke's you-better-not look.

"You know what... Jesse said t' behave...so you better," said Luke in his bossy big brother way. He tended to get that way when he didn't know what Bo was up to.

"I ain't been misbehavin'....you was the one started wrestling with me, all I did was jump on yer back for a piggy back ride..." Bo replied back, all innocent sounding like the very thought of him doing anything wrong was simply wrong in itself. "And anyway...who said I was gonna do anythin' else?"

Daisy continued giggling as she followed Jesse into the house, as always amused by her cousins antics. They had pulled some great shenanigans growing up but now that didn't happen very often for all three of them but she reckoned it wasn't supposed to afterall they were all grown up now too mature for such things but it was still nice to see Bo and Luke play around especially Luke who was so serious all the time.

Bo shook his head with a grin, taking a seat on the porch swing and pushing it gently back and forth with his toe as he regarded his older cousin. A part of him really enjoyed making Luke edgy...making Luke watch his every move...he could eaisly pretend to be doing something and Luke would instantly try and piece together what it would be.
"Cousin c'mon....on Halloween we always team up t'gether...why would I wanna do anything to you now?"

Bo narrowed his eyes a little, shaking his head.
"Now I resent that Luke Duke, I really do. I ain't ever abandoned ya on Halloween...I ain't ever turned on you...we've always done this t'gether...its like a tradition an' I sure as heck ain't one t'break that..." he said, making it clear he wasn't angry but in truth it was a little bit insulting that Luke thought like that.

Bo nodded a little, leaning back more on the swing and glancing out over the farm again with a small smile. He did really enjoy this life sometimes, not having to worry about work or where the next paycheck was coming from, being able to race whenever he wanted to, stay out as late as he wanted....well within reason.
Ok so it was a little annoying that they couldn't leave the confines of Hazzard County without having blue and red lights soon popping up behind them...and yeah it was degrading to have to go and ask Boss Hogg for permission to leave the county...but there could be worse situations to live in. He had a loving family, his pick of the women in the county, a race car of his very own, great friends...his life when he thought about it was really ever bachelor's dream.
"You know Luke....we really have it quite easy here don't we...." he commented with a small smile, still watching the wind gently rustle the leaves on the trees.

Daisy, was busy starting lunch, thinking of all the Halloween's past from when they were kids. She snickered at one memory in particular when she had gotten the boys before they had got her with one of their jokes which they were famous for pulling on her to scare her. Now Daisy wasn't the type to be easily scared but her cousins were creative and would stop at nothing to scare her this time of year.
*Memory* It was a rainy October day as Daisy Duke looked out at the puddles in the front yard from the livingroom window. The boys had been trying to scare her all day, suddenly a thought came to mind and she giggled as she crept off to her room she would get the boys one way or the other. In her room Daisy took a coat hanger from her closet and then crept to the kitchen and got Jesse's denim jacket that he pulled out of the closet when the weather got cooler. Hanging the coat on the hanger she carried it back through the house hanging it up in a dark corner.
"Luke....Luke....Bo!" she screeched sounding as if she were terrified of something.
Bo and Luke came running to see what their cousin was yelling about both stopping and staring at the shadow of the coat hanging in the corner. Daisy pointed a shaky finger at the form in the corner, they had all been told stories by older children about the ghost who roamed Hazzard looking for his legs and it was said that it had been on the Duke farm land where he had lost them.

Okay, at first Bo would admit grudgingly that it spooked him a little bit. Anyone would be after having run into the house hearing their cousin screaming for her life and then coming face to face with a shadow hanging ominously in the corner. But he wasn't so stupid as to forget what time of the year it was....nor how annoyed Daisy got at being pranked first...nor how much she wanted to get them back for those times they managed it.
Bo was exceedingly good at pranks, he'd been mastering the fine art of it as he was going through school. He was currently known by the teachers as 'The School Menace', known by the pupils being able to do pranks no one else would dream of doing. The joy was that the teachers knew he was the one doing it, but had absolutly no proof at all that it was him so couldn't do a thing. Conviniently, at the time the pranks went off, Bo was always somewhere else.
Folding his arms, he shook his head and said in a stern voice as he looked at the shadow...
"Jeffery what are you doing here? You know we agreed you wouldn't be in the house until night time and besides, your supposed to be staying with Daisy tonight!"
He may have been younger than Daisy by a couple of years, but he wasn't afraid to stand up for himself a turn a situation round to his advantage. Luke had been teaching him that...as well as using his fists to solve a situation. But when Daisy could eaisly reach a kitchen utensil like a rolling pin or a frying pan, it was a better idea not to try and take her on. Not that he would hit a girl anyway.

At his cousin's scream, Luke had come racing too, but the shadow didn't phase him. He had been to and survived Nam...it took more than a jacket on a hanger to scare him. "Nice try Daisy..."

Daisy laughed to herself thinking about the boys reaction to her little prank back then wondering what she could do this year that might get them. Turning back to the stove Daisy stirred the contents of the pot on the burner, the sooner they got finished eating the sooner they could get to the pumpkin carving. Tomorrow would be an equally exciting night with trick or treater's coming by in their costumes. Then later would be the annual Halloween haunted hayride through Sleepy City the old western ghost town that had been the name of Hazzard before it became Hazzard.

"So who y'all takin' on the hayride?" asked Luke a bit later. None of the Dukes ever had problems finding dates, so it was always an interesting question who the lucky one would be.
He had a feeling Bo would be taking on of the McCracken sisters...or better still, both of them, if he could get away with it.

Daisy thought about it long and hard not answering Luke just yet...teasing the boys a little. She was going with Jimmy Rawlin's the mysterious Rawlin's cousin, he was coming in from Birmingham Alabama just to take her on the hay ride but....she couldn't tell Uncle Jesse and the boys yet at least not yet they'd have a fit when they heard. The Rawlins's referred to him as the gypsy in the family due to something that had happened in his past that they refused to talk about. His long dark hair and equally dark eyes made her want to follow him anywhere. His deep voice was like a drug it gave her heart the shakes especially when he cruised in on his Harley and patted the seat behind him giving her a drop dead gorgeous smile and said "let's go for a ride baby". At last she looked at the boys wiggling her eyebrows and saying with a saucy grin.....
"You'll just have to wait and find out."

Bo had taken to lounging on the couch, his whole 6'3 frame stretched out along the piece of furniture so that his feet hung off the end over the arm. Usually he and Luke conversed about who they were going to take to the hay-ride, but this year neither of them really had. They talked about possibilities for dates...and who they definitly wouldn't consider taking....but when it came to who they actually would take, neither of them had said a word.
Shrugging a little as the attention turned to him, he smiled to his older cousins...boy were they in for a shock when they heard this.
"I haven't actually asked anyone."

Luke looked shocked to say the least. "What?"
He found it hard to believe...Bo was never without a date this late in the game...in fact, usually he had a waiting list.
"You didn't ask no one...what'd they do? Ask you first?"

Daisy was equally as shocked as Luke and just stared at Bo with her mouth hanging open, it was just near unheard of that Bo Duke didn't have a date for the weekend or a special occasion.
"Who are the McCracken sisters going with if not you?"
The middle Duke cousin smirked at her baby cousin, both sisters had a crush on Bo and if he wasn't with one then he was with the other but by the end of a hayride or some other such function he'd end up with both of them. She wondered if maybe their Daddy wasn't letting them go with Bo because at the big 4th of July celebration he'd brought them home at near dawn.
